Webinar “Recovered energy : the forgotten potential for Zero Emission Buildings”

Date of event

18 April 2023

Energy efficiency and renewables are the two mantras of the energy performance of buildings, but what about the energy that can be recovered from ventilation and wastewater? Speakers will present research on the potential of wastewater heat recovery and discuss the integration of recovered energy into the calculation of the energy performance of buildings.

Pavel Sevela will present a study on the potential of waste water heat recovery systems (WWHRS) in reducing the energy demand for water heating in the EU in a cost-efficient way. He will introduce the principle of WWHR and the different systems available. He will quantify the benefits in term of energy, costs and emissions at household level depending on the climate zone and the benefits at EU level for the renovation wave and the energy efficiency target.

Laurent Socal will introduce the EN-EPD standards and propose an approach for the adequate consideration of recovered energy into CEN standards and national calculation methods for the energy performance of buildings.
